Christians often speak of “Praising God,” and the Bible commands all living creatures to praise the Lord (Psalm 150:6). One Hebrew word for “praise” in the Old Testament is Zamar. These term contains the idea of giving thanks and honor to one who is worthy of Praise.Choral music always feels good when you have different varieties of it at one place. The ARS, Abeka Youth Choir, gave the audience a heavy load of good packaged music last Sunday at the “Zamar 2019” concert. When some of the audience thought they’ve seen some good performances of the choir over the years, they never knew this year would be this great.
ARS, Abeka Youth Choir is stationed at the church of Apostles Revelation Society, Abeka Chapel at NiiBoi Town inside Lapaz, Accra. The Choir was inaugurated in 2017. In 2018 the Choir decided to come up with an annual concert, hence “Zamar” a Hebrew word which means worship or praises. That year ARS, Abeka Youth Choir featured choirs like ARS, Madina Youth Choir, ARS, Abelemkpe Youth Choir and Harbour City Youth Choir,Tema. Last Sunday, Zamar 2019 was guested by ARS, Ashaiman Youth Choir who graced the occasion with some hymns and anthems. The host Choir herself didn’t disappoint the audience; the Choir sang magnificently, anthems, highlife medleys and lots of hymns to the audience and to honor one of their supporters, a hymn lover, father and a friend of the Choir, the late Justice “Adegbe” Tsar
The Guest of Honor Rev. Benjamin Amenumey, advised both the choristers and the audience to take singing serious especially the hymns, as it’s a way of getting closer to God. He also advised that members should meditate on the lyrics of the songs sang as well as the word of God for its more like a snare drum beaten to praise him(God). Finally he engaged everyone to pray for a minute to have an encounter with God at that moment.
