The Apostles Revelation Society Student Union (ARSSU), UHAS-Chapter holds an inaugural ceremony to be fully recognized as a student religious body in the institution. The event was held at the Ho Central ARS Chapel.
According to the current president of ARSSU – UHAS, Pearl Adela, ARSSU UHAS chapter is in existence and operating for 5 years and well recognized on campus but not inaugurated and so there is the need for them to inaugurate the chapter. However, these could offer the chance to learn more about the Church and since the entire ARS Church is celebrating the 100 years of Prophet CKN Wovenu, they would like to be enlightened about some of the Visions and Core Values of the Church, by so doing, a lecture series on the Founder of the Church was added to the inauguration ceremony.
The Keynote Speaker, Rev. Dr. Mawutor Wovenu expatiated on the theme ‘Promoting Education, the Role of the Church’ and said when there’s Church, there should be a school which is also practiced by the founder of the Apostles Revelation Society (ARS), Prophet CKN Wovenu.
He clearly stated that Prophet Wovenu outlined in one of his books that the Church has two Responsibilities; Preaching the word of God, and Championing Education.
The founder of ARS has not even completed elementary school yet he worked hard to establish more than 62 schools which brought about the questions; ‘what are we doing with our education currently?’ what happened to those schools as it stands now? He asked.
More so, he added that, the founder saw the importance of Education which enlighten his ambition to establish schools in addition to the Church as a tool of impacting religious moral values into the younger generations to transform their ways of living.
Julius Evame Agbagba; the former President of the Chapter delivered a HISTORICAL BIRTH SPEECH of ARSSU UHAS and said; in September 2012, UHAS admitted 155 students and out of them, 3 were members of ARS and are all males. The year 2013 was not smooth for us because we got an ARS member on campus who would do anything from terrorism to motivate to ensure that we also have a union on campus who is Miss Emmanuella Tetevi through her tremendous effort, ARSSU UHAS is having 14 members.
He continued and said ‘we have not allowed our number to limit what we can do over the years. Even before the formation of a bigger entity Health4ARS, ARSSU UHAS has embarked on several health education campaigns in the various branches in Ho. We donated some bags of cement to the Agortorme Church in 2016 to aid in their school building project. The union has also been a major stakeholder in Health4ARS as we have produced human resources to execute most of the projects. Just last months, our ladies were at the cured lepers’ village to present assorted products to the members of the community as part of their ARSSU Ladies week celebration. We have represented at two ARSSU Congresses so far and this saw the union producing a Deputy Organiser and a National President.
The ARSSU Gospel Band was there to entertain the audience with their powerful musical tunes.
The entire ceremony was climax with fund raising in to aid the chapter purchase equipment’s to enhance their service and evangelism.
