The entire Church of Apostles Revelation Society worldwide and other Christian
bodies celebrated the anniversary of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion and death on Friday before Easter Sunday.
This celebration is observed by Christians around the world. It commemorates Jesus Christ’s passion, crucifixion, and death, which is told in the Christian Bible. At all ARS branches, Church services were held in the morning to honour this celebration. As part of the day’s symbolism, all members of the Church dressed in their funeral clothes.
Other Christian Churches held their services in the afternoon around noon to 3pm, to remember the hours when Jesus was hung on the cross.
At the joint Easter Friday service hosted by the Ho Central branch, Rev. G.D Gakpetor preaching to the congregation emphasized on repentance and cautioned members to refrain from sinful acts to escape the wrath of God’s judgment.
In summary, he asked “Jesus Christ lived a righteous life and conformed to all his father commandments and fulfilled his mission on earth yet he was crucified. What then happens to us when our lives are full of sins?
He further advised the congregation to stop involving in bad acts that profane the solemn nature of the day.
Many Churches also observed the day by re-enacting the procession of the cross in the ritual of the Stations of the Cross, which depicts the final hours of Jesus’ Christ.
